The Birthday Party at Swan Lake on 14 September 2007

Tarzan, Lord Greystoke and Lady Jane were gifts from Mixael's Jewish mother, Rose Goldsmith. Jane, is shown on the left and Tarzan on the right. On the other two photographs, His Majesty, The Babbapu is inspecting the vermin that have come along to invade his space. The insistent ringing of his cellphone is what eventually woke Mixael on 14 September exactly as the clock struck Thursday the 13th off the calendar. Some hours before he had decided that he was in desperate need of an early night on Thursday and, consequently, had taken a sleeping tablet, where after Mixael and His Majesty, The Babbapu (photo above), crept under the blankets and quickly disappeared into dreamland. In the room next door, Tarzan, Lord Greystoke and Lady Jane were creating their normal nocturnal chaos - but, tonight, neither Mixael nor Babbapu could care two hoots about the destruction. Tomorrow was going to be a busy day in every respect and both of them needed the sleep desperately. For weeks on end had their days started way too early and ended way too late.
Then the phone's ringing cleaved through the darkness of the night.
Lady Ascot will soon be joining the Hagenhof Family

It was my virtual brother Krynauw on the other side of the line telling me that he was standing at my front door, gift in the hand and, as it was after midnight he wanted to come in to wish me! Well, what a fabulous start to one's birthday!

The gift I got is really exquiste and, in this pphotograph with Madeleen Botha, Rose Goldsmith and Dominique Paccault I am wearing it - the fabulous black shirt!

But more fabulous than the shirt were my stunning friends and colleagues who were my guests at the Civic Theatre that evening. They all joined me for a finger supper in the P T Barnum lounge which is attached to the VIP Box which The MAVERICK Group had purchased for teh evening. In teh photograph on teh left is Madeleen Botha, Stiaan van der Merwe, Andre Mynhardt and, with his eyeys closed, Krynauw Nel.

Photographer and artist extraordinaire - and art commentator on BravoBrava - Ron Brry is seen in the above picture on the left. On my other side I am flanked by Glenn Hean, estate agent de luxe - especially in Greenside.

In the photograph on the right you can see Pat Roberts (African Fire), Lindy Gould (Ingeniso), Susan Richardson (PRISA), and Mark Roberts.

So in the photograph on the left my collegue for many many years, Pat Roberts gives me a hug - and, on the right even her husband, Mark, cannot resist touching that Krynauw Nel shirt.

The gang on the right were the guys reponsible to carry me through the first traunatic weeks after I was attacked brutally in my house on Xmas Day. From left to right, Ivan Goldsmith, his wife Rose, teh fabulous Jill Gerard and her daughters, ballerina Alexandra and musical sensation Domiue Paccault.

Big boys need bigtime legal oresentatives and even bigger friends to protect them. In the photograph on the left and, on the left of me, is my lawyer, William Clark, his friend Glenn Hean, Advocate Estelle Killian and Stiaan van der Merwe.

From the time I developed severe problems with my eyesight last year, Lerina Erasmus, seen on my left (photograph on the right) fed me with chicken soup and ensured that I got fatter than ever before - of course aided by massive doses of cortisone! Her stunning husband, engineer Gunther Schmikal, is seen on my other side and, next to him, gigantic Gareth Thomas and his petite lady love, Steph Hugo.

And this photograph shows some of the team. Susan Richardson has been a friend and colleague for many years. Gerhard van Veuren, my personal assistant and also the coordinator of BravoBrava stands next to our Maverick Lady Nelisiwe Ngcongo.

Johann Kritzinger is one of those civilized hetrosexual men who makes style acceptable and respectable in a very butch world. On my righthand side is longtime friend and loyal supporter through sick and sin, Nicki van Reenen. Nicki has basically redefined South Africa style and established it as a sought-after commodity globally. Her son George van Reenen is seen here towering above his mother - and, both of them were in Johannesburg from Stellenbosch from where they hail.

Pat Roberts is shown in the photograph below on the far left followed by Henning Gouws (Trillium Advertising) and his friend Ray Vogel. On my left I have further support from two of the world's platinum grade friends, Lindy & John Gould.
