Mixael presents

Nodi Murphy from "Out in Africa", manages the South African Gay and Lesbian film festival.

Born and bred in Uganda of Irish parents, Nodi went to school at a convent in Vanderbijlpark. After school Nodi went to UCT whereafter she lived in London for 7 years. Nodi came back to South Africa in 1986.

Nodi started the Gay and Lesbian Film festival in 1994 at the time when South Africa embarked on its course to democracy. Her interest in film motivated her to persevere despite obstacles to produce an annual film festival. It has been running for the past 14 years.

Her contribution to this niche film market and creating awareness about Gay and Lesbian issues through thought-provoking films cannot be emphasised enough.

To learn more about the line up of movies this year at Nu Metro at the Killarney Mall in Johannesburg, see the Out in Africa website, http://www.oia.co.za/.

Post comments and ask Nodi questions or comment on your favourite movies. You can also email comments to mixaeld@gmail.com
